Am I the only one that thinks Tim Te“Blows”?

I know it’s been a while since my last piece, but I figured after the SEC title game on Saturday I knew I would have to write something.  The need for me to write was brought on not just by Kirk Herbstreet and Lee Corso’s love for Florida QB Tim Tebow, but also by the country’s infatuation with the kid.

I’m not going to take anything away from the guy; he is a good COLLEGE quarterback.  He knows to work the system in College in order to be successful.  However, a person saying he’s simply good is not what’s bothering me.  What really grinds my gears is how a lot of people are saying he’s amazing and the most talented athlete in College today.  Well the people saying that can go choke on their own fists.  It’s madness to make claims like that about a kid who basically runs an all option offense.  Am I the only one that sees that?  I heard a stat the other day that Tebow has taken less than 10 snaps from under center as a College QB, and then to top it off he’s only completed one of those passes.  Hello! I’m pretty sure they don’t run the option in the NFL, and when they have this year for a little while it worked for about 3 weeks before teams put a stop to it.

And Florida Coach Urban Meyer….I’m extremely disappointed in you.  You actually came out and said that you think Tebow is not only the best player in College that you’ve ever seen, but also the best player you’ve ever coached.  What about the guy that was once your boy, but now you’ve seem to have forgotten about just like everyone else in the world because he has been terrible in the NFL?  That’s right I’m talking about Utah’s 2004 QB Alex Smith.  Did you forget about that guy Meyer?  Do you forget how his 42 total touchdown’s with just 4 int’s not only led your average Utah team to a Mountain West title, but also a 12-0 record?  Didn’t it also lead to him being taken 1st overall in the draft the next year too?  A couple things come to mind when you consider all those things.

    1. Tim Tebow will never ever ever be the 1st overall pick in the draft.  He’s not talented enough at the position he plays to be able to compete in the NFL.  We’ve all seen it before, and option quarterbacks for the most part do not succeed when lined up across from the best of the best.
    2. I’m pretty sure Urban Meyer should learn to not diss his old players, mainly because if it weren’t for Alex Smith he most likely wouldn’t even be coaching at Florida right now.  Yea sure he’s a good coach but Florida isn’t bringing a loser of a coach in.  Smith helped him get that job by having that amazing season in ’04 and giving Meyer national recognition.
    3. Utah!?!  I know they’re great this year, but people forget they were also great in ’04.  People will argue with me that Meyer was a great coach at Utah.  I won’t deny that he was good, but with the season Smith had I think the player played a huge role in their success.  The point here is that Smith was an excellent player on a team of average players.  The guys around him were decent players but there weren’t any real standouts other than Smith.  Smith had his great season with o.k. teammates on offense and defense.  Utah won because Smith led them to a win every week.  Tebow on the other hand has at least 4 guys on his team that will be playing in the NFL.  Tebow is surrounding by enormous talent because of the recruits the school can bring in every year.  I can’t respect Tebow as much knowing that he’s got a stacked lineup around him.
    4. Meyer should get rid of his amnesia and remember what got him to where he is today, instead of praising the guy who’s helping Florida win this year.  Utah is a good football school but when the team won big in ’04 with Meyer and Smith, it was much more of an accomplishment than winning lots of games with a Florida team that had a tradition of winning every year before you were even good enough to utter the name Gators.  I’m sorry but I’m much more impressed with Smith + Meyer than I am with Tebow + Meyer.

I know I’m going to receive some opposition for this article but to be fair I know I’m right.  Tebow will fade away after this year, because he’ll never be that successful in the NFL.  He’s not good enough as a quarterback, and to be honest I don’t think he’s talented enough of an athlete to play a different position.  Hopefully the people who vote for the Heisman do what’s right and don’t go with what all the experts are saying is a great choice.  If Tebow wins the Heisman this year again I’ll be disgusted.  Based on total T.D.’s and all that jazz I guess he deserved it last year, but no way he should get it this year.  It needs to go to a Big 12 QB like Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, who deserves it for actually being a quarterback.  Not just some player who can screw with defenses by faking a run and then throwing it deep; while defensive players in the secondary, who don’t have close to enough talent to even be on NFL practice squads, get beat because they bite on the run fake.  It’s much more challenging when the defense knows you’re going to throw it and you still can throw 48 t.d.’s against some of the best teams in the country.

All this run/pass/run/run/fake run then pass/fake pass then run garbage is for pop warner, although it works in College.  I’m getting out of control now so I’ll wrap it up even though I could go on forever about this topic.  I’ll leave you guys with this to chew on.  Tebow was talking the other day about how he’ll have his vote for the Heisman winner because he won last year.  He discussed the possible candidates from the Big 12 and said they’re great and all but later on went to imply that he’s the best QB in College so he’ll vote for himself.  He didn’t actually say it but everyone knew what he meant.  Anyway, he then went on to say that he wishes he could have the chance to play against one of those Big 12 defenses.  Basically he was implying that the only reason the Big 12 quarterbacks were any good this year, is because the defenses in the conference are awful.

Well to that I have to say you’re an idiot Tim Te“Blow”.  I mean you can’t actually be serious.  I know all the analyst’s say that the SEC is the best conference and all, but seriously take a look at the teams you had to play this year.  The SEC is not that good, and you just tried to compare it the Big 12, which this year is possibly the best conference in College football history.  I mean seriously Tim what amazing defenses have you played in the SEC?  None.  I’m not saying the Big 12 has great defenses, but don’t act like you’ve been playing the Steelers all year you mutt.  Try to take a snap under center or just actually be a passing quarterback like the QB’s in the Big 12.  When you can do that I’ll gain some respect for you.  Until then keep your mouth shut because you’re a running fairy whose highlight of his life will be now in College because it’s all downhill from here on out for you bud.
