2011 NFL Mock Draft
June 24, 2010 by Administrator
1. St. Louis Rams – DT Marcell Dareus – Alabama
The Rams were thinking about taking DT Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska in the 2010 NFL draft but ended up taking QB Sam Bradford. Now turning to the 2011 NFL mock draft I see them going with a defensive tackle. Marcell Dareus is not the talent that Suh is but he should be the top DT in the 2011 draft class.
2. Detroit Lions – OT Anthony Castonzo – Boston College
Anthony Castonzo will enter this college season as the top offensive tackle. The Lions have put a lot of weapons around QB Matthew Stafford and now they need to address the front line that protects him.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DE Allen Bailey – Miami
Tampa Bay drafted DT Gerald McCoy in the 2010 NFL draft which will help the pass rush in the 2010 season. But in the 2011 NFL mock draft they will continue to improve the defensive line. Bailey is a big and physical pass rusher at 6’6″ 288 lbs.
4. Washington Redskins – QB Jake Locker – Washington
In the 2010 off-season the Redskins acquired QB Donavan McNabb who will be the starter for the next few years but he won’t be there for much more than two or three so if Jake Locker does fall to them then I think they will start to think of the future. Locker has a strong arm and is very athletic. He could have been the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft but opted to stay for his senior year.
5. Kansas City Chiefs – QB Andrew Luck – Stanford
Andrew Luck could pass Locker during the season as the top QB in the 2011 NFL draft class. I know Kansas City has Matt Cassell but I don’t know if he is the long term solution. The 2010-11 season will be a big season for him to produce and if he doesn’t then they could turn to the 2011 draft for their next QB.
6. Seattle Seahawks – QB Ryan Mallett – Arkansas
Ryan Mallett might have the strongest arm in the 2011 draft class. He came back to school to work on his footwork and accuracy. Depending on how his Junior season goes at Arkansas he could go in the top 10 of the 2011 NFL mock draft. Right now I am going mostly on potential. Seattle has been thinking about drafting a QB in the draft for a few years now and I think the 2011 draft will be the one that they pull the trigger.
7. Cleveland Browns – CB Ras-I Dowling – Virginia
By drafting CB Joe Haden in the 2010 NFL draft they addressed a big flaw that they had. Drafting one cornerback will not help the secondary so I expect them to continue adding talent through the 2011 NFL draft. Another possibility is a pass rusher in the 2011 NFL mock draft.
8. New England Patriots (From Oakland) – WR A.J. Green – Georgia
Wide receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker are getting older and the Patriots’ offense needs a young play maker. The top WR in the 2011 NFL draft class will be between Green and Julio Jones but currently I think Green is ahead of Jones.
9. Buffalo Bills – OT Clint Boling – Georgia
If one of the three top QB’s fall to them they will certainly take them because the three QB’s they have now are not franchise quarterbacks. But in my 2011 NFL mock draft they aren’t available and Buffalo turns to their offensive line needs and draft Clint Boling from Georgia.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars – OLB Bruce Carter – North Carolina
Jacksonville will continue to improve their defense and this time they will work on their linebackers. Bruce Carter could have came out last year and been a first round draft pick but decided to stay in school. Picking Carter at the number ten pick would not be a stretch unlike California’s Tyson Alualu in the 2010 NFL draft.

Looks like the DEs will be the DTs of the 2011 draft.
